Administration of Computer Labs and Classroom computers

IAIA conducts ongoing maintenance of its Macintosh computers used in three computer labs, numerous classroom spaces, our Learning Lab, and other locations.

State of the Art Administrative Tool

IAIA has deployed Jamf Pro—a remote device management system for Apple devices—since Fall 2019. This enables the automated setup of new Macintosh computers, control over configurations and settings, and the capability to install or update software remotely. Utilizing this technology, we have updated the Macintosh computers on campus to the most recent, stable version of the Macintosh operating system. We plan to update computers over the summer to the latest Macintosh operating system and update software apps used in our courses.

Up-to-Date Technology

IAIA ensures that all computers used by students and faculty are up to date. In the past two years, we have retired approximately 90 older computers. Classroom and computer lab computers are all presently capable of running the latest applications. We have similarly updated computers in the IAIAI Learning Lab.

IAIA is presently developing our campus technology plan. This will include provisions to keep computers in our labs and classrooms up to date with regular rotations to retire and replace obsolete computers.

Loaner Laptop Computers for Students

IAIA has also invested in Windows and Macintosh laptop computers that students can borrow for entire semesters. We currently have 75 Windows and 50 Macintosh laptops to loan our students. These are administered and loaned through IAIA’s IT Department. A smaller inventory of laptops is maintained to loan to faculty when needed.
