When you start a tutoring shift, begin this way:
- Start the Zoom desktop app on your computer.
- Make sure you are signed-in to Zoom with your IAIA account.
- Click New Meeting (this starts a meeting with your Personal Meeting ID).

During Your Shifts
You can do the following:
- Between clients (customers/students) you are of course welcome to study as before.
- You can and should switch off your webcam (video) while you are studying.
- Turn your video and microphone on when you hear a "ding" of someone dropping-in for help.
- If you have more than one drop-in
- finish with the first one, or perhaps they can work on their own briefly while you find out what the newcomer needs.
- You can ask a new drop-in visitor to return in 5, 10, 20 minutes, until you expect to finish with the student you were working with.
- Students needing help always have priority over faculty/staff. (Send the faculty/staff member to me if the help they need is time/critical)
- When in doubt, feel free to contact me via phone/text (505) 577-7877
After Your Shift
Take a moment to send me an email summarizing how your shift went. For example...
- Did anyone drop-in for help?
- Did you have any appointments?
- What kinds of help did students (or faculty/staff) ask for?
- Mention anything that would help me understand the kinds of help you're being asked to provide.
